Camden Archipelago
During the pandemic I often walked our dog along Regents Canal and on weekends the towpath used to be busy with magnet fishers pulling all kinds of metal treasure from the water. Much had been thrown into the canal to make it disappear - guns, car clamps and safes that had been forced open. Other items had just fallen in - bits of scaffolding, parts of machinery and tripods. I began to collect fragments of sheet metal and eventually used them as printing plates on thin slabs of porcelain. The eroded metal pieces allowed me to reimagine my neighbourhood as a collection of islands in the Greater London sea.
